OLE’s STORY

In early September, 2009, aReLeTTe received a phone call from a very distressed Carol Loyd. Her beloved Russkiy Toy had run away from her brothers home in Tennessee. Carol was visiting her brother, and did not have the e-address or phone number to the breeder of Ole, so she Googled and remembered the name aReLeTTe. We had the information she needed, so she could contact Phyllis Blaha, the original owner of Ole. She kept in constant contact with Phyllis, Merilee, and many others, for moral support and ideas to get her lost boy back.

Here are Carol’s words:

“Phyllis,  After I spoke with you last I stayed in South Pittsburg, Tennessee for 1 week. I handed out flyers and put them on the doors of every house in town. I put posters all over town, went on the local radio station to appeal for help looking for him. All of  South Pittsburg knew he was missing and half of them were actually out beating the bushes for him. He was on several online missing dog sites. Several people reported seeing him - but no Ole.

After a week I went back to Atlanta to wait. I had put an ad in the news paper that came out the second week...More sitings all over town, and many people calling just to see if I had found him and to say they were looking.

Friday I had a call to report a siting and the same person called back Saturday morning and the dog they described sounded just like Ole’s behavior. After a suggestion from Merrillee Edison at aReLeTTe, I took all of his bedding and toys and headed for Tennessee. I got there late afternoon (Sat.). The last siting was that he was coming out of the woods behind a house on the edge of town. They said when they called him, he ran back into the woods. They put food and water out to, hopefully keep him around.

I drove up the driveway, parked my car, opened the door and Ole ran out of the woods and into my lap!!!!! He was soaking wet and full of burrs , but not a scratch!!!  It just seems impossible that such a tiny little thing could survive on his own for two weeks.....but Ole did it!!!!

The whole town was celebrating that night. One person commented that they hoped if a human person were missing that there would be such an all out effort to find them!!!  I am so happy to have him back and thank you all so very much for encouraging me that he could still be alive.   I will send you a current picture of him in another email.  He is very handsome!!!

Best regards,  Carol Loyd “

Russkiy Toy owners do know how deeply affectionate these dogs are to their owners, and sometimes how skittish they initially are of strangers. Never give up on finding your lost Russkiy Toy!!
